EBO AI (“EBOAI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a U.S.–registered nonprofit organization with global operations, including EBO Africa, our social-impact and community engagement division.

We are committed to protecting the privacy, dignity, and rights of every person whose data we collect, whether in the United States, Nigeria, or abroad. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and safeguard personal information across our programs, websites, and technology platforms (collectively, the “Services”).

By using our Services, you consent to the practices described herein.

This policy applies to all users, donors, advisors, research participants, partners, and beneficiaries interacting with:

  • EBOAI.org, EBOAfrica.org, or any sub-domains;

  • Program registration or donation forms;

  • AI-powered tools and data-collection interfaces operated under EBO AI; and

  • Offline community engagement, surveys, or educational programs.

a. Information You Provide

  • Contact Details: name, email, phone number, organization, and country of residence.

  • Donor and Payment Data: processed securely via third-party payment processors; EBO AI does not store credit/debit card numbers.

  • Program Participation: registrations, survey responses, event attendance, or voluntary media submissions.

  • Research or Advisory Data: proposals, project participation forms, and evaluation feedback.

b. Automatically Collected Information

  • Device type, IP address, browser, and access times.

  • Cookie data for analytics, security, and performance improvement.

  • Aggregated usage statistics (non-identifiable).'

C. Sensitive Personal Data (Nigeria-specific)

Where required for program eligibility or reporting (e.g., demographics, health, or educational data), we process such information only with explicit consent and under Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023.

4. Purpose of Data Use

We process data strictly to advance our mission, including to:

  • Administer donations, grants, and program participation;

  • Communicate updates, reports, and event information;

  • Measure impact and improve outreach effectiveness;

  • Support ethical AI research, innovation, and inclusion initiatives;

  • Comply with local and international legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

Under U.S. Law

We rely on:

  • Consent from the individual;

  • Legitimate nonprofit interest, such as advancing public benefit programs;

  • Legal obligations under IRS, grant, or regulatory requirements.

Under Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA)

We rely on:

  • Explicit consent of the data subject;

  • Performance of a contract or public interest mandate;

  • Compliance with legal obligations;

  • Vital interest of the data subject (e.g., health or welfare programs).

6. Data Sharing and Transfers

Within the U.S. and Nigeria

Data may be shared with EBO AI’s affiliates and service providers in both countries for program coordination. All parties are bound by confidentiality and data-protection agreements.

International Transfers

Where data is transferred between the U.S., Nigeria, or other regions, we use appropriate safeguards including:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for GDPR compliance;

  • Adequacy and cross-border transfer mechanisms under the NDPA 2023.

No transfer occurs without ensuring equivalent protection standards.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to:

  • Fulfill our nonprofit mission and program obligations;

  • Comply with donor, grant, and legal requirements;

  • Resolve disputes or audits.
    After this period, data is securely deleted or anonymized.

Under U.S. Law (CCPA/CPRA and state equivalents)

You may request to:

  • Access or delete your data;

  • Opt out of data sharing for analytics;

  • Receive disclosures on data categories and usage.

Under Nigeria’s NDPA 2023

You have the right to:

  • Be informed about data collection and use;

  • Access, correct, or erase personal data;

  • Restrict or object to processing;

  • Withdraw consent at any time;

  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@eboai.org. Requests will be addressed within 30 days (U.S.) or 45 days (Nigeria).

9. Data Ethics and AI Use

EBOAI develops and deploys AI technologies for social impact, inclusion, and responsible storytelling. We pledge to:

  • Use anonymized or aggregated data for model training and impact reporting;

  • Conduct regular bias and fairness audits;

  • Maintain human oversight for all automated processes;

  • Prohibit algorithmic discrimination or profiling.

10. Data Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards including:

  • End-to-end encryption and secure servers;

  • Role-based access controls;

  • Continuous monitoring and periodic audits;

  • Compliance with U.S. NIST 800-53 and Nigeria NDPR Framework 2.0.

While no system is perfectly secure, we strive to maintain the highest protection standards.

11. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16 years old. For educational or community programs involving minors, data is collected only with verified parental or guardian consent.
